It has been such a busy month with two graduations and a big family wedding in Virginia. It is so nice to be home and finally having some extra time to blog. My granddaughter, Kelsey graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma. She will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Here is a pic of her at her family graduation party with the quilt that I made for her graduation present. I make each of my grandkids a quilt and include a gift card from Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy the bedding.
A week later we attended my grandson's graduation from the University of Washington where he majored in Mollecular and Cellular Biology. He will take the medical school exam later this summer and hope to head back to U of W for another four or five years. Here is a look at he and his parents just after the ceremony.
Then we were off to Virginia to attend the wedding of our niece in Charlottesville. We had a great week touring some of our favorite locations close to Williamsburg and even got to spend a great afternoon at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. I had been there before a couple of times, but there were so many more memorials that had been added in recent years. My favorites were the Jefferson Memorial and the fairly new Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. On Thursday night, we headed to Richmond for a dinner with my brother and his family. We enjoyed seeing our two nieces and their fiances. Saturday was the wedding and what a crazy wedding it was. There were major thunderstorm warnings and since it was an outdoor wedding at the Merriweather Springs Vineyard on the Merriweather Lewis estate, a last minute decision to erect a tent was made. Just as the wedding started, we heard faraway thunder and by the end when the kiss was made, the storm was right overhead with torrential rain and huge cracks of thunder and lightening. It was a beautiful event with dinner inside, thank goodness. Our drive back to Williamsburg later that night was a long one with lots of sheet lightening and huge rain squalls. Here are a few of the pics of the bride and groom and my family.
The last picture is the cousins picture with two of my daughters and my brother's two daughters.
Okay enough of my reminiscing. I promised to share some more of the guy cards from our monthly swap so here are three more of the fun cards that my downline and myself created.
This card was designed by Darlene Almer and featured the Wetlands and the Work of Art sets. Love how that one turned out. It definitely feels like summer on the coast.
Carol Sanderson designed this great card from the Guy Greetings set. Love how the Back to Black Designer Series Paper works so well with the car.
This was my card using the Adventure Awaits and the Maritime Designer Series Paper from the Spring Occasions mini. My husband worked for the US Navy during his whole career and when I first met him, he was an avid sailboat skipper so it just seemed to suit him.
As you can probably guess, I love to journal about my family and friends as well as my Stampin' Up! business. Hope you enjoyed this little insight into my crazy life. My husband and I love to travel and have a very active family. There is lots more coming up this summer with two more weddings and a trip to Squaw Valley. In the meantime, I'll finish up the last of the guy cards and get ready for Stampaholics Anonymous and Simply Stampin' Lunch Bunch projects. Hugs, Sherron
