Simply Stampin' Lunch Bunch and Aerubbecisor Dinner

It was a small but fun group of ladies for lunch today as three of my regular stalwart stampers came plus three of my downline Aerubbecisor gals who either work nights or don't drive in the dark joined us.  I made the Loaded Baked Potato Soup for lunch and dinner today.  It was sent to me by Bobbi Hartsell on facebook and she was here to enjoy it today.  I also made a Raspberry Cranberry Apple salad with the cranberry sauce that Lila brought last month and an apple coffecake as the apples are coming faster than we can eat them.  There were grapes and tiny purple tomatoes, rolls, little tortilla rollup appetizers and brownie pops as well as a yummy oriental tossed salad so we ate hearty today.  Tonight I will add one of my watermelon, feta, marinated onion with tossed greens salad and some hearty bread for the dinner.  It is a long but rewarding day as I get to visit with ladies in my downline along with some of my favorite stampers.  This month I cased all five cards that the ladies are making as the Birthday Blitz used up most of my creative genes.  Some of the cards were off of blogs and some were swaps that I received at our convention.  Here are two of them.  Hope you enjoy them.

Fall Wreath card and Aerubbecisor Swap Card

As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to post a pic of Dawn Olchefske's fall wreath card.  I just loved this look when I saw it and had to copy it for my October workshops starting with the one yesterday.  I am still having trouble getting excited for Christmas yet so will post a few of those later.  I have one that I am doing for my October workshops that is a take on one that I did for the Birthday Blitz.  The Wondrous Wreath set is just a versatile photopolymer set that is available as a bundle.  Pinterest has been full of great ideas.

It is so cheerful, that I am almost happy to welcome fall, especially if we continue to get lots of sunshine in the Great Northwet.
Tomorrow is the Simply Stampin' Lunch Bunch and I will have five fairly simple cards to create during our fun lunchtime activity.  Everyone brings a little something to share for lunch and we have a yummy good time.  It is also the Aerubbecisor dinner gathering for my wonderful Stampin' Up! downline.  Which means that the monthly swap cards are due.  I created mine over the weekend and was pretty excited about it.  The theme this month was framelits and thinlits so I used one of our new flip card thinlits dies, Snowflake Card Thinlit on page 22 of the Holiday Mini.  Did you know that the Letterpress Winter stamp fits perfectly in the flippin' snowflake.  Even though I'm really not ready for snow, I loved how this card turned out.  The Thinlits Die set includes the words Joy, Brrr and Snow as well as a small snowflake, a large snowflake, a heart and a tree framelit.  So fun to play with.

Hope you liked the card.  Tomorrow I'll share some of the Simply Stampin' cards that I cased for this months class and then there will be the rest of the Aerubbecisor swaps and the thank you cards for this weeks, World Cardmaking Day on Saturday.  More about that to come.  Have a great week.

Workshop in Centralia with the Razzle Dazzle Divas

It was kind of a crazy day today as I continued to work at cleaning out my garage.  Since it was my quarterly trip to Centralia to do a workshop for the Razzle Dazzle Divas Red Hat group and their friends, I always try to take a load to the Goodwill at the same time.  The Goodwill in Centralia is a wonderful bunch of people who always seem to be so happy to see me unlike other Goodwills closer to home so I always try to take a load there when I go.  My husband and I have been cleaning out and sheetrocking our garage both downstairs and in the bonus room upstairs.  When we moved to Longview eight years ago, we dumped everything from our house that we had sold into the garage while we built the new house and have slowly been sorting everything that didn't get moved into the new home.  I have boxes and boxes and boxes of cardstock, paper and completed cards and am slowly making my way through them all and donating or using up what I can.  Each year I have a retired craft sale and try to sell as much as I can.  What doesn't sell gets put on eBay or gets donated to other charities.  There were two large boxes for the Goodwill as well as a TV and a computer printer.  It always feels so good to get things cleaned out and organized.

My workshop with the fun ladies of the Razzle Dazzle Divas was a hoot.  I have a perfectionist in the group and you all know what that means.  Nothing is ever right and everything has to be redone several times.  We are working on her, but she is coming along very slowly.  They seemed to enjoy the projects that I brought.  I included the Ornamental Pine with the fabric softener sheets and glitter from last month's sneak peek and it was a real hit again.  Everyone just loves that technique.  I also did the Birthday Blitz card from yesterday's class of the ship from the Traveler and the Work of Art background.  The last one is a fall card using the Wondrous Wreath that Dawn Olchefske had posted to Pinterest.  It was very simple but so cool for this time of years and the ladies loved the change from the Christmas look.  I have found so many great ideas for this stamp set.  You know you will be seeing lots of cards done with it in the next several months.  I'll post a picture of it tomorrow with the list of supplies to make it.  I have my Simply Stampin' Lunch Bunch on Tuesday so will start sneak peeking those projects for you tomorrow, too.  Tonight I am just too tired to think about it.

Great Birthday Blitz

We had a great time playing together at my Birthday Blitz today.  Everyone loved the cards and each had their favorites.  The Holiday Home set was very popular as was the Traveler card.  Most wanted to make the very pretty Flowering Flourishes screen card, but only a few tackled the Peekabo Shutter card.  It is always interesting to me to see which cards are the favorites so I know what to plan for next time.  Most made the really easy cards, but the harder ones only had a couple of takers.  Here are some pics of the ladies tackling their projects and the remaining two cards that I had not posted yet.

Last call for Birthday Blitz

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 27 is the Birthday Blitz so if you plan to come, please let me know.  Here are a few more of the cards that you will have a choice of making.  I cased them from Pinterest or individual stampers blogs.  There are so many creative people willing to share their creations.

Two fun new sets

When I first got the new annual catalog, two of the sets that really caught my eye were Simply Sports and Playful Pennants.  I have always been the athletic supporter in the family playing basketball and tennis in high school, participating in drill team in elementary school and high school and playing softball as an adult.  I was also a competition gymnast and learned to ice skate with my daughters as they grew up.  Now my eight grandchildren are all avid participants from soccer to baseball to diving to rugby, rock climbing, horseback riding....you name it and they do it.  Love the silhouette look to Simply Sports and the sayings that go with both sets.  I decided to do a girl playing baseball for my Birthday Blitz since my eleven year old granddaughter lives and breathes baseball as well as her older brother.  It is so cute that SU included ponytails going both directions to differentiate the sexes in the set.  The cards were so easy to make and very fun that I decided to make a set sampler for them as well as the Birthday Blitz one.  Which one is your favorite?

More Birthday Blitz and Paper Pumpkin

My new Paper Pumpkin for September arrived yesterday just in time to get ready for Halloween.  I had had a sneak peek at the contents at convention where we had a big Paper Pumpkin night and were able to make one of this month's little bags.  The pre-stamped burlap bags were so cute, especially after we stamped the tags, filled them with candy and put them together with the mini clothespin and strings of sequins.  I plan to send them to grandkids for a fun little treat.
If you want information about how you can get a fun little surprise each month which includes stamps, ink and all of the supplies to create anywhere from four to eight projects,  click on the Paper Pumpkin icon on my website or give me a call.

I've been busy getting ready for my Birthday Blitz this weekend.  There is still room if you want to have the opportunity to make as many of eight projects as you would like for just $1 a card.  I have posted two of the projects in the past several days and will add a few more over the next couple before Saturday.  Some of them have been inspired or copied from other demonstrators as usual while I have actually created several myself.  Surprise, surprise.  This one is inspired by a card which I received from my upline, Denise Jorgensen at convention.  She does exquisite cards and this one was one which several of my stamping friends asked to make at a future event.  I did make a few changes to it, but the basic look is the same and uses one of my favorite new sets, World of Dreams.

Getting ready for the Birthday Blitz with Four Feathers

With the Birthday Blitz coming up this weekend, I've been madly creating or casing a variety of fun birthday cards.  While I do that, I'm trying to make a set sampler of other cards that I have received in swaps or copied from Pinterest.  I shared the birthday card that I made for Kristen's papercrafting day.  It was a little more time consuming that I normally do for my birthday blitz, but the Holiday Home and White Christmas stamp sets are just too fun to create with.  Monday afternoon, I pinned a whole bunch of Four Feathers cards to Pinterest and then copied four of them with some slight changes.  One of them will be my Birthday Blitz card and the rest went into a set sampler for everyone to see some other ideas for the set.  There are so many possibilities that I know I will be playing with this set a bunch more for my other classes and workshops.  Here is the one that I will include in my Birthday Blitz, created by Gloria Kremer.
I am really enjoying the use of Washi Tape on my cards.  It adds some fun highlights to the cards and goes on so easily.....much easier than ribbon.

There were so many fun cards to copy for my set sampler so I settled on three of them and will probably copy a bunch more before I am done.  Check out my boards on Pinterest and you will see what I mean.

Pics of the weekend

As I promised yesterday, I have some fun pics of my visit to southern California.  It seemed like it was a non-stop weekend and by the time I flew home last night, I didn't get to bed until after midnight so today was a day to catch up on laundry, my Demonstrator website and getting ready for the Birthday Blitz this weekend.  First here are some pics of my fun weekend.
Kristen enjoyed learning how to make a box with our new Boxmaker Punch Board.
Kristen made all of the cards that I brought to share so that she could then teach them to her friends.
The ladies had a great time making the cards that I shared last week
My sister, Beth, Kristen's good friend Kathryn, Niece Kristen and Beth's coworker Moniece.

When I visit my family, they love to share all of their favorite restaurants and discover new ones with me.  On this trip, we went to Northridge Mall on Friday night for some wonderful seafood.
 Kristen with husband, Son
Beth and I with some very yummy drinks.
My Seafood Ceviche with a big bowl of Mussels that we all shared.
Sister, Beth's wonderful Bang, Bang Shrimp

We love to just munch on appetizers and light dishes instead of going for big dinners.  We always share with each other.  My favorite way to eat.  Saturday night, we went to Santa Monica and when their first choice had a long waiting time, we strolled the streets and settled on a Hawaiian themed restaurant called the Makai Lounge where we were able to watch my Washington State Cougars battle the Oregon Ducks while sharing lots of Sushi, Crispy Duck and a wonderful Hot Chocolate Cake with creamy ice cream.  No pics as it was too dark to get any good ones.  Sunday, they were going to take me downtown on the subway to the fashion district to check out the street carts, but with so many good football games on, we opted to hit the Buffalo Wild Wings at Northridge Mall again for an afternoon of spicy chicken wings, fried pickles and great football.  We watched the end of Son's Patriots game and then hung out through Kristen's 49ers and my Seahawks.  My sister decided that I was not attired properly so she went shopping while we waited for our table and came back with a proper shirt just in time for the start of my team's game.
Yes, I am a big Russell Wilson fan.
Today I had a lot of fun getting ready for my Birthday Blitz so I played with the Four Feathers Bundle from the Holiday mini and copied a bunch of projects from Pinterest.  I'll share those pics tomorrow as I have made this blog way too long already.

Fun times in Southern California

It has been a wonderful weekend  with my sister and niece.  We had so much fun stamping together with their friends. As usual each night I was treated to a different restaurant that they like. Friday night, we went to the Bonefish in the Northridge Mall where we shared various seafood dishes.  I had a yummy seafood ceviche and melt in the mouth fish and chips with tastes of sister, Beth's Bang Bang Shrimp and some great mussels that we all shared.  Last night we cruised the streets of Santa Monica and decided to try the Makai Lounge.   Beth, Kristen and I shared some wonderful sushi while Son had the Crispy Duck and shared tastes with us.  We topped off the meal with a to die for hot fudgy chocolate cake with creamy ice cream.  Today we will hang out in one of their favorite sports bars so Kristen can watch her beloved 49ers, while I can enjoy my Seahawks, of course.

I would love to share pics of our activities, but I am not able to add photos that I have taken with my iPad.  Blogspot on iPad is totally different than on my computers, so I haven't learned what the secret is.  I head for home tonight so will be able to load my pics on the desktop and share tomorrow.  Then it will be back to creating and casing to prepare for my Birthday Blitz class, Simply Stampin' Lunch Bunch and World Cardmaking Day.   Hope you had a great weekend.

On my way to Southern California

My bags are packed and I'm on my way to a fun weekend with my niece, Kristen and sister, Beth.  Normally, I look forward to these visits as I try to schedule them during our fall and winter miserable weather, but we have had such wonderful weather for weeks on end that I will not be looking forward to the hot California sunshine.  Instead, I will enjoy the air conditioning and fun that my niece and her husband always offer.  I have a couple more projects to share that I will be doing while I am down there.  I am taking a bunch of samples that you have already seen from the Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set and the Ornamental Pine, but I wanted to do a little something with the Holiday Home set as it is another of my favorite.  I had fun playing with the set along with the White Christmas set which just arrived and works so well with the Holiday Home set so here are the two cards that I will be taking with me to So Cal.

Getting ready for Kristen's holiday party

My niece, Kristen is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and a full time teacher.  She is just learning all there is to making fun cards, party favors and scrapbook pages.  I try to get down to Southern California several times a year to visit with she and my sister, Beth.  It has been ten months since I was there in November last year so I decided it was time to share my love of all of the fun holiday stuff in our new catalog. One of my favorite new stamp sets is the Wondrous Wreath so I copied the sample in the Holiday mini and then cased one of Julie Davison's creations that she did copying the holiday sample.  It is so nice not having to be terribly creative, but able to copy other creative demonstrators through the process we call casing.  CASE meaning Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Steal Everything.  Here are the two Wondrous Wreath cards that I will be sharing with Kristen's friends and family.

World Cardmaking Day and a Halloween Wreath

It's been a relaxing couple of days.  I started planning for World Cardmaking Day on Octaber 4th.  Each year we try to celebrate our creativity with a special day devoted to a theme.  This year,  I've decided to make it a Day of Thanks.  I will have five different thank you cards for everyone to make. Each person will make a card for themselves and another for one of our selected recipients.  They can make as many as they would like but always one for themselves and one to give away.  There is no charge for this day. It is a day to give  back to our local community with our love of Papercrafting.  I'll be posting pics of the Thanks cards as we get closer to October.  First I have to go to So Cal this weekend to help my niece, Kristen with a holiday card party.  Then there is the Birthday Blitz class on September 27 and the Simply Stampin' Lunch Bunch on September 30.  Stay tune for lots of pics of creations and case-ations over the next couple of weeks.  I have been spending lots of time in my craft room.

One of the projects that I really wanted to get done and hang in my entry is the Frightful Wreath on Pages 36 and 37 of our Holiday Mini.  I started it while I was at the library and finished it yesterday.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  The ladies visiting with me at the library weren't sure about the purple and silver spider, but he is kinda cute too.  What do you think?

Organizing my stamp room and two more drink cards

It was a fun day for my Stampaholics Anonymous group.  Even though it was very hot outside.......it's September in the northwest, go figure......five people braved the heat to play in my cool air conditioned house.  Most of the ladies wanted to make the double flower punch card that Darlene had made for my Aerubbecisor swap and the Ornamental Pine card using the fabric softener sheet and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  They enjoyed looking at the swaps that I got last week at our Unite/Excite event and chose a Work of Art card to copy.  It was a great group and they also enjoyed touring my craft room where I am working hard to get more organized and just installed my latest storage units from StampnStorage.  I just love their storage units and like how they made one of my three stamping areas so organized.  I love the flat punch storage and the ribbon storage for my current ribbons.  I used the old ribbon boxes for all of my retired ribbons.  This is what they look like.  Cool, huh?

Love how they look and how easy it is to find what I'm looking for.

I have two more of the Making Spirits Bright cards that I made for my stamp set of the month swap.  This is such a fun set and you will see more of it over the next several months.  Here are the last two cards and the supplies to make each one.

Stamp set of the month cards

Today was a pleasant and quiet day.  I delivered the Impression Obsession stamp club orders and got to visit a little with some of my wonderful stampers.  Then I helped move some shelves so that my husband could continue to sheet rock the garage.  It is looking so much more organized.  I'm working to really organize my craft room, too.  There is so much retired paper and ribbon to store.  Then I just played with my stamps and made three cards that I had cased from Pinterest and Dawn Olchefske's blog.  More about them to come.

As I mentioned before, I chose the Making Spirits Bright stamp set for my September stamp set of the month.  Since there are six different drinks in the set, I used one for my Aerubbecisor swap and one for my stamp clubs this month.  The other four were featured on my stamp set of the month.  Love this set.  It is so cute and just lends itself to happy cards.  Here are two of the cards that I featured this month.

Two workshop cards for September

Today was the first library gathering for the school year.  I decided to offer to host a papercrafting group at the library like I did for years when I lived in Mossyrock.  Anybody can join us and bring whatever they would like to work on.  I brought the Halloween wreath and my daughter, Lisa's wedding album which was once in a magnetic page album and I tore it apart and want to redo it with Project Life "Love Story" scrapbooking by Becky Higgins.  I also brought some of the Paper Pumpkin kits that I had bought extra for people to make if they didn't know what to bring.  I ended up getting four of my current good friends and customers or demonstrators who showed up to see what I was doing so they can bring stuff to do next month......I hope.   And then there was a brand new lady who has stamped before and is looking for people to stamp with again.  Her Stampin' Up! demonstrator moved to Texas.  She did the project that I had brought and we had such a good time visiting.  Both of her children are in full day school and she is not sure what to do with herself.  We talked about classes at LCC that she could take and parttime jobs to look for.  I really hope she decides to come and play with us a bunch in months to come.

So I promised to share the other two cards that my stamp clubs made this month.  I shared the fall one using For All Things several weeks ago.  Here are the two cards.  The first one I cased from Pinterest and changed a little.  I don't remember who it was from, but it featured a stamp set the I was not going to buy this year, but I loved the cards that I got from it so, of course, I had to get it.

The second one was from one of my favorite sets from the new Holiday mini.  We joke a lot about my posts on Facebook where I am sharing one of my favorite libations with my husband and the names that I used on my animals so, of course, Making Spirits Bright had to be one of my favorite sets and this is one of the cards that I made for this month's workshops.  I chose it to be my stamp set of the month so you will see the other cards that I made with it this month.  You already saw the one that I did for my Holiday Sneak Peek.

Stamp Club swap card

Last night was the final stamp club for the month and it was another one of those laugh until you cry nights.  Barb brought her other sister to share in the fun and Dani was on a roll with her southern drawl impersonations.  They enjoyed the cards which featured two of the new holiday stamp sets.  Two of my stamp clubs do group swaps each month so we can share some of our ideas and favorite accessories and stamps.  This year I have promised myself that I am going to use up some of my huge pile of designer paper and ribbon on every swap that I do as well as a stamp set that has not gotten a lot of exposure.  I pulled out a packet of designer ribbon which was how they were sold several years back.  It had five different ribbons in Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red which has since retired so I used three of the ribbons on my cards.  There was not enough of any one ribbon to use on all of my swap cards.  Then I reached into my drawer of leftover DSP and pulled out several sheets of the black and vanilla typeset paper.  Lastly, I pulled a stamp set off of the shelves and ended up with Too Kind.  Then I put my creative cap on which doesn't function terribly well too often and got to work.  I started with the colors in the ribbons, Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red and Crumb Cake plus Black and ended up with a card that I was pretty happy with.  What do you think?
Here are the supplies that are still available for this card.  You can always substitute Cherry Cobbler or Real Red for the Riding Hood Red and the new Typeset paper for the old one.

Tomorrow is our first month of Papercrafting at the Longview Library so I hope some of you will be there.  I will be making the Frightful Halloween Wreath in the Holiday mini and working on my oldest daughter's wedding memory album.  I'll have some Paper Pumpkin boxes and cards for anyone to make who would like to.  I will also post the two workshop projects that I haven't posted yet.  The fall "For All Things" was featured on my blog in the last several weeks; both the workshop card and the Aerubbecisor swap card.

Don't forget to check out the weekly deals on my Stampin' Up! website.  I am hoping to add a Weekly Deals button to my blog as soon as I figure out how to do it.  Hugs, Sherron
